Workshop at MOCCA Art Festival '08

We had a very nice turnout for our first Drawing Words & Writing Pictures workshop Sunday in the very hot MoCCA museum space.

We did a slide show tour of the book and then gave everyone paper and had them draw a comic strip using no pictures, just dialogue, narration, panel borders, sound effects and "emanata" (sweat beads and so forth--see the textbook for details!). We then stuck them all on the wall and talked about them a bit.

(This is basically what we're doing tonight at McNally-Robinson, too.)

Bonus photo: it was Aldara's first con and she had a blast. Here she is hanging out with our table-mate, Nate Doyle, whose minis were going like gangbusters:

Thanks for bringing your intro comics class to the MoCCA Art Festival! Sorry about the very hot space - 100 degree temperatures put a definite strain on MoCCA's air conditioning.
